because life is a beautiful thing, and there's so much to smile about

Aloha Oahu, Aloha Kauai

KAUAI.

aka PARADISE.  Neither Payton or I had been to this Hawaiian island before, so it was fun to explore a new place together. After one week on Oahu, we took the shortest plane ride of our lives to the Garden Island, where we stayed for another half week before going back to reality. It was pretty fun to see how different the two islands were--each had their own magical charm!

DAY 1/2:

HNL-->LIH

First stop: the TURTLE CAVES (after getting lunch, of course). Seeing 10 turtles on our first day was a very nice welcome to the island!

Waterfall hike #1

Not only went in and behind, but also on top! CRAZY VIEWS people.

One of many stops to the Shave Ice stand. LOOK AT THAT BEAUTY. Who knew Passion Fruit, Mango, and Peach made a sunset masterpiece.

(on a side note, our favorite flavors from the trip were Mango and Pina Colada. We are also avid supporters of ice cream on the bottom [macadamia nut ice cream was spot on] and condensed milk on top!)

DAY 3:

Waterfall hike #2!

we hiked, we swung, we conquered

I heart fruit stands!

And therefore needed a picture in one. Fruit on fruit on fruit.

and OH MY GOSH introducing my favorite beach ever.

oh hey what's up guys.

Just hanging loose in this wonderfully warm and crystal clear water that had really fun waves to play in :)

(selfies in the splash zone)

DAY 4:

Introducing, the NA PALI COAST.

8 miles of hawaiian jungle, muddy chacos, and breathtaking views. I mean WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT

no seriously KEEP LOOKING

But really guys, 8 MILES, and I'm STILL SMILING. My legs were tired, my feet were muddy, and it periodically rained, but apparently that's what magic is made of because THIS HIKE people.

DAY 5:

LAST DAY. Just turtle cavin it up before we say our last Alohas.

and now we have Trip #1 in the books!  And a million bajillion more places to go :)

and last but not least, our souvenir :) got to eat our we-are-leaving-paradise feelings somehow...but seriously, these things are delish.

LIH-->PDX

writing to you from home sweet home,

me
