Oahu & One Year

Aloha friends and family!

Let me take you way back to a time where waters were crystal clear, tropical fish ruled the seas and all people did was sip pina coladas....

Jokessss guys (but not really). On a serious note, Payton and I went to Hawaii for a few days, and it was THE BEST THING EVER. Yay for anniversary adventures! Among the millions of pictures and videos we took, here are a few that sum up our trip!

YAYAYAYAYAY

DAY 1:

Woke up early to start our 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY with the sunrise.

Went to the temple--the grounds are beautiful!

First snorkeling adventure: SHARKS COVE. Saw a sea turtle within one minute of getting in the water!

After we snorkeled at Shark's Cove, we went down the road to WAIMEA BAY to jump off large rocks and stufff.

(jumping off large rocks)

(and stufff)

Stopped by the fruit stand to pick up food for breakfast!

And ended the day by going to HALEIWA JOES for our anniversary dinner. CHECK IT:

If you like Pina Coladas....(and getting caught in the rain la la laa)

Coconut shrimp and prime rib for din din!

AND THIS AMAZING THING (aka macadamia nut ice cream with burnt caramel sauce and fresh fruit)

and because one giant dessert isn't enough...chocolate lava cake a la mode with raspberry sauce!

DAY 2:

Hiked Diamond Head...

Group shot!

Lovely view of Honolulu!

Went to Pearl Harbor...

Went to the Dole Plantation...

and the dole whip was BOMB.

and ended our day with Matsumoto shave ice and the beach :)

DAY 3:

Hiked Maunawili Falls (one of our favorite hikes from the trip)

Was a monkey for a solid 4.3 seconds.

The hike ended at a waterfall!

So while I was just jumping in casually, Payton was back-flipping in with impeccable form :)

Went to ROMYS SHRIMP SHACK, and was clearly a noob since I had to go ask the cooks how to eat our lunch...

and then we hung out with this guy for a good chunk of time!

DAY 4:

Another hike!

and joined a prestigious club.

and then spent the rest of the day at the POLYNESIAN CULTURAL CENTER.

Oh you know, just hanging loose.

Paddled a canoe, joined a spear throwing contest, and witnessed some high quality entertainment that had us laughing our pants off.

And followed all that with a LUAU and the Ha - Breath of Life show. There's some very talented people in these neck of the palm trees!

DAY 5:

HANAUMA BAY DAY.

Hiked KOKO HEAD trail...

and dominated like a boss ;)

and then went to WAIKIKI BEACH.

DAY 6/7:

roasted peanuts with lemon grass, lime leaf, and crushed roasted chili. quite the tasty lunch thai appetizer!

BANYAN TREES for daysss

looks like I married mr. muscles ;)

Sunset at Sunset Beach!

MACADAMIA NUT & BANANA PANCAKES WITH MACADAMIA NUT SYRUP.

went to a lookout so windy we thought we could fly....

and then went on our way to check out Jurassic Park! (aka KAUAI!)

(too be continued...)

Last but not least, HAWAII BLOOPS:

Remember that "1,045 steps later" thing? Well we started out as two beautiful people:

Probably my tenth breather? But hey, still smiling! Look how far we've come!

Trying to pass off my first weary stance as a high-fashion model pose...

and a few steps later, wondering whether this "hike" (aka death trap) was a good idea...

Ummm just further in thought? I'll just say I dropped something....

Slightly delusional. Trying to figure out why he is still smiling...

And now for the real "1,045 steps later" ;)  So ladies and gentlemen, proof that the struggle was real. Couldn't have done it without Kimmi Schmidt's advice in my head (just take it ten seconds at a time) and DJ P-Tizzle playing some motivational music 20 steps in front of me...

Apparently I snorkel to check out turtle butts...#caughtintheact

but apparently he does too...#perfectmatch

and what can I say; at least he got my good side #slightchanceofwind at Nu-Uanu Pali lookout
