because life is a beautiful thing, and there's so much to smile about

twas the season

6 MONTHS LATER.

(now that I have addressed that embarrassing fact, let's move on and pretend it never happened...)

Throwing it all the way back to the holidays! Ladies and gentlemen, Halloween. Where you're too old to go trick-or-treating and just can't rationalize spending more than $10 bucks on a costume...

Seasoning up life together since 10.31.14

Thanksgiving last year was in Santa Barbara with my family, and Christmas/New Years was with Payton's family in Bend. This was my first year having a REAL CHRISTMAS TREE, and also our first year celebrating Christmas together, so DOUBLE WAMMY FOR A MAGICAL CHRISTMAS. (shout out to growing up with a 9 ft., pre-lit, rotating Christmas tree though).

THANKSGIVING
Always great being back together! Best friends since that incredibly awkward stage
of life we call junior high.

Thanksgiving morning run on the beach BECAUSE WE CAN :)

Evening walk on Stern's Wharf!

YES PLEASE.

CHRISTMAS
(aka the best holiday where magical things happen and dreams come true)
Portland Zoo lights! Most animals were inside because it was late but we
STILL SAW THE ELEPHANTS :)

Yay for you-cut tree farms! The before...

...and after. Huge props to the dollar store for giving me a hand (for the decorations guys, not the presents. We're not that bad...)

Hiked Smith Rock while in Bend. Cold, but beautiful!

(proof that we were actually there and I didn't just steal the above pic)

And took some really rad Christmas pics that I guess I'm not "sending out" until now....

so MERY CHRISTMAS! Love, the Thompsons

For Valentine's Day, we road-tripped our way out of Portland and headed to Seaside Beach on the Oregon Coast. We enjoyed a weekend full of salt water taffy, windy beach weather, and throwing it back to the 90's as we watched Steele Magnolia's (courtesy of the hotel's large VHS library!). Each room had it's own theme (ours was "New York") and a wonderful nostalgic VHS player that was way more exciting than it probably should have been :)

I LOVE SALT WATER TAFFY.

At least we got a good pic of us...

Happy heart day :)

Also, MY FAMILY CAME TO PORTLAND, giving us the opportunity to have the most Portlandia day of our lives. Check it out: Voodoo Doughnuts, Powell's Bookstore, the Waterfront, Multnomah Falls, Screen Door, and Salt & Straw ALL IN ONE DAY. Gotta love this city :)

Fambam at Voodoo!

Just another classic Multnomah pic.

Then came Easter, finishing up the holiday cheer. Since our lovely apartment doesn't supply us with a backyard (but hey, give it up for a patio! woot woot!) we brought the hunt inside. Payton hid mine in the living room and kitchen, while I hid his in our room. We also went to a tulip farm in Washington with some amigos, and sat on some tulips.

JOKES GUYS we didn't actually sit on them...

Lastly (not quite a holiday but obvi a celebratory moment) I took a weekend trip to Utah for my sister's baby shower! (aka CAFE RIO TIME)

These people are BOMB. Love seeing friends!

So YAY for holidays and finishing up a year of firsts with Payton! To celebrate our anniversary, we went to HAWAII, so stay tuned for billions of snorkeling, hiking, and sunny pics of paradise :)

luvs luvs,

me
